Sherry McElhannon holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baylor University, where she majored in English (emphasis on British Literature) and minored in history. Sherry then moved to the frigid north, where she completed her Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In 4th grade, Sherry declared her intention to become a librarian, and since then, she has worked in various capacities in a number of different library settings. Children’s and Young Adult literature are her passions, but she reads anything she can get her hands on! Sherry believes that a love of reading is one of the keys to life-long learning. Her goal as a librarian is to impart the excitement and adventure that can be found in a good book and to help kids fall in love with reading, just as she did when she was young.
As Library/Media Specialist, Sherry provides professional development for librarians and library aides. She also manages the Library Services Cooperative, which seeks to encourage networking among school librarians in Region 12. Sherry is also passionate about technology, and offers a number of professional development workshops in technology integration under the direction of Lisa McCray.
