Mrs. Cole began her career in education as a teacher for the Killeen Independent School District and adjunct faculty member for Central Texas College, followed by service in Georgia as Assistant Principal and Middle Grades Curriculum Coordinator for the Monroe County Board of Education and as an adjunct faculty member of Macon State College in Macon, Georgia. Upon returning to Texas, Mrs. Cole joined the Education Service Center Region 12 team as Director of Educator Preparation and Certification Programs.

As Director of Educator Preparation and Certification Programs, Mrs. Cole leads and coordinates the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program, the Principal Preparation and Certification Program, and the Paraprofessional Academy. She also serves as Regional Contact for No Child Left Behind and state coordinator for the American Board for Teacher Excellence.
