Ms. Holman is the education specialist for speech-language pathology and assistive technology and will be coordinating training for Related Services personnel for Region 12. She will also serve on the team for providing training in the area of autism. She brings to Region 12 eighteen years of experience as a speech-language pathologist in the public schools of Texas. She is also the Region 12 representative to the Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN) and is a TSHA Task Force on Eligibility trainer for the Language Eligibility Template and the Fluency Template.

Cross-Battery Assessment & SLD Identification: A Continuum of Data Gathering Methods by
Dr. Dawn Flanagan, co-author of the Essentials of Cross-Battery Assessment will present a brief history of psychometric theories and measures of intelligence with an emphasis on the evolution of the CHC theory and its influence on the measurement of cognitive abilities and processes. Participants will gain an understanding of the CHC constructs that are measured by current intelligence tests and understand the relations between CHC cognitive abilities and processes and academic outcomes. Participants will understand how to apply this information within the context of an operational definition to identify students with SLD. Participants will also gain knowledge about how to distinguish SLD from more pervasive intellectual disabilities.  5.0 TSHA credits approved.

Social Skills for Children with Autism by Scott Bellini
Scott Bellini comes to us with great information about teaching social skills to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Scott is the author of several books including "Building Social Relationships". This session will be a full day of assessment, data collection and implementation of effective social skills programs.  5.0 TSHA credits approved.

Transdiciplinary Play-Based Assessment by Kellie Johnson - Lead PPCD Teacher Round Rock ISD This presentation will describe the rationale and procedures for engaging in play-based assessment of children from 3 to 6 years of age. Participants will learn about the composition of the play-based assessment team and roles of the team members. Practical information and guidelines will be discussed regarding ways to develop this assessment model in your program, district or special education cooperative. A discussion of the new TPBA-2 book and sample forms will be provided to participants. Each participant will receive the new TPBA-Second Edition by Toni Linder.  5.0 TSHA credits approved.

The Texas 4-Step Model: Considering Assistive Technology in the IEP Process by Gina Holman
During this session, you will receive information and participate in exercises that will enable you to better understand and use: • Federal and state legal contexts of AT consideration • Basic definitions and examples of AT devices and services • The Texas 4-Step Model, a process for considering a student’s need for AT devices and services and • Resources to support AT consideration.

AI Issues for Parent Advisors
This TETN session will provide certified teachers who function as early intervention providers serving infants and toddlers with hearing loss the opportunity to network with others who work with this population. Topics to be covered include best practices for delivery of services to infants and toddlers who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families.
