Mrs. York graduated with a double major B.S.
degree with honors in Biology and with special recognition for
completion of an
undergraduate thesis in 1988. She finished her M.S. degree
in 1992 and went on
to work as a graduate student research and teaching assistant
at Texas Tech University. Mrs. York became interested in teaching
as an undergraduate student, at Wayland Baptist University,
while working as a laboratory and teaching assistant for the
Department
of Mathematics and Biology. Through the summer A.S.S.I.S.T.
and A.S.S.E.T. programs she worked with teachers who were seeking
their
certification in science while they continued to teach in their
current teaching field. After returning to Texas in 1994, Mrs.
York obtained her teaching certification through the TMATE
program
at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. She taught
middle school and high sciences at Goldthwaite ISD for 10 years
before taking the position of Education Specialist, Secondary
Science at ESC Region 12.
