As an Education Specialist, Mrs. Calhoun provides
professional development in the areas of Elementary Math/Science,
and Gifted Education.
Mrs. Calhoun has 21 years of experience in education.
Before coming to the Education Service Center, her classroom experience
began with teaching all subjects for kindergarten and first grade.
She also taught gifted classes for kindergarten through fifth grade,
as well as a K-5 Science Lab. She held positions as a mentor teacher,
participated in Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence
in Science Teaching, campus G/T coordinator, an Accelerated
Schools internal facilitator, an Odyssey of the Mind
coordinator, and as webmaster for Kennedy-Powell Elementary school.
She was a KWTX Golden Apple Recipient during Fall 2000 and Fall
2001. She also received the Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education
Excellence Award Spring 2003 & Spring 2004, and was the Region
12 Science Teacher of the Year for 2003-2004. She was recognized
by Pi Lambda Theta (Graduate Honor Society in Education), 2005.
