As an Education Specialist, Mrs. Calhoun provides
professional development in the areas of Elementary Science,
and Gifted Education. She also serves as Project Director for the Region 12 Science Collaborative.
Mrs. Calhoun has 23 years of experience in education.
Before coming to the Education Service Center, she developed 18 years of experience in the following ways: classroom teacher; Brainbuilder teacher (gifted class); and a K-5 Science Lab teacher. She held positions as a mentor teacher,
participated in Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence
in Science Teaching, campus G/T coordinator, an Accelerated
Schools Internal Facilitator, an Odyssey of the Mind
coordinator, and as webmaster .
She was a KWTX Golden Apple Recipient during Fall 2000 and Fall
2001. She also received the Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education
Excellence Award Spring 2003 & Spring 2004, and was the Region
12 Science Teacher of the Year for 2003-2004. She was recognized
by Pi Lambda Theta (Graduate Honor Society in Education), 2005.
