Melissa Leach holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Michigan State University where she double majored in Child Development and Language Arts and is in the process of completing her Master’s Program.  She is GT and ESL certified and holds a valid Texas Generalist and ESL certificate EC-4.

As an Education Specialist, Melissa provides professional development for primary PreK-3 teachers, with a focus on Language Arts instruction.  She also supports teachers with Reading First trainings and the School Readiness Initiative. 
Melissa has experience in both Michigan and Texas classrooms with children in grades PreK-3.  A major focus of Melissa’s professional development has centered around Balanced Literacy, the five components of reading, effective instruction in the elementary classroom and small group instruction.

She is knowledgeable, eager, and committed to helping the teachers in Region 12 do their very best job each day for every student.
